1020 Carbon RAW Wedge

Designed around feel. Everything about this wedge was decided by what happens in your hands at impact, and every spec below follows from that one priority. Each one is forged, ground and stamped by hand in Colorado.

Forged, not cast

Most wedges at this price are cast. Molten steel poured into a mold, fast and cheap, with a grain structure that ends up porous and inconsistent. Forging is different: a solid billet worked under pressure until the grain runs continuous through the head. That density is what you feel as a solid, connected strike instead of a hollow one. It costs more and it is the single biggest reason this wedge feels the way it does.

1020 carbon, not stainless

Stainless is harder, cheaper to finish, and it lasts longer without care. It also transmits a sharper, more brittle impact. We chose 1020 carbon because softer steel deforms fractionally at contact and gives back a muted, dense sensation the hands read as control. You give up corrosion resistance. That is a trade we made on purpose.

RAW, no plating

Chrome and nickel plating protect a head and deaden it. Every layer between the ball and the steel is a layer of feedback you don't get. RAW means nothing in between.

It also means it will rust. Oxidation starts within the first few rounds and deepens into a patina shaped by your climate, your hands, and your turf. This is intended, not a defect. A raw face grips the ball, and the finish keeps a record of the rounds you've played. Wipe the face dry after play and oil the head from time to time. That steers the patina rather than stopping it.

Bounce ground for the shot

Bounce is what stops a wedge digging, and the right amount depends entirely on the shot you're hitting. We grind each loft to its own number rather than stretching one sole across the set.

  • 50° gets 10° of bounce. Enough to keep the leading edge from digging on a fairway lie, not so much that it skips into the ball. The versatile one.
  • 56° gets 12° of bounce. The most in the set. Sand and soft turf want a sole that glides through rather than digs in.
  • 60° gets 8° of bounce. The least, so the leading edge sits down tight to the ball on firm lies. That's what a delicate, short-sided shot asks for.

Three grinds instead of one. More work on our end, better clubs in your bag.

Choose your build

  • Complete Club, $189. Built with your choice of KBS shaft and a Golf Pride grip, ready to play.
  • Head Only, $149. The bare head, for players who already know exactly how they want it built. If you don't have a builder, take the complete club. It's the better value.

Lofts

  • 50° Gap, 10° bounce. The full-swing scorer, for the awkward number between pitching and sand.
  • 56° Sand, 12° bounce. The workhorse. Bunkers, standard chips, three-quarter approaches.
  • 60° Lob, 8° bounce. The specialist. Short-sided, tucked pins, firm greens.

Shafts (complete clubs)

  • KBS Tour V, lightweight feel, tight dispersion, mid launch.
  • KBS Hi-Rev 2.0, active tip section for higher launch and maximum spin.

When will it ship?

The 1020 carbon wedge is in stock and ships within 2 to 3 business days.

Head only or complete club?

Head only is the bare head, for players who already have a builder. If you do not, take the complete club. It is built with your choice of KBS shaft and a Golf Pride grip, ready to play.

Which loft do I need?

The 50° with 10° of bounce for full swings and fairway lies. The 56° with 12° for bunkers and soft turf. The 60° with 8° for firm lies and short-sided touch shots.

Carbon or Damascus?

Same lofts and grinds. Carbon is clean, unlayered steel and ships in days. Damascus is layered steel with a pattern unique to each head, made to order in 3 to 4 weeks.

How do I care for a RAW finish?

Wipe the face dry after play and oil the head from time to time. That steers the patina rather than stopping it.
