The Craft / Handmade in Colorado

Designed around feel.

Every decision on these wedges was made by what happens in your hands at impact. Here is each one, and what it costs.

Bare steel / Mill marks

01 / The steel

Forged,
not cast.

Most wedges at this price are cast: molten steel poured into a mold. Ours are forged by hand in Colorado from solid billet, worked under pressure so the grain runs continuous through the head. That density is what you feel as a solid, connected strike.

We forge two steels. 1020 carbon is soft and clean, and returns a dense, muted feel your hands read as control. Damascus is layered steel from a single billet; grinding opens a pattern that is different in every head. The trade for both is corrosion resistance, and we made it on purpose.

RAW face / Patina forming

02 / The finish

Nothing plated
over it.

Plating protects a head and deadens it. RAW means there is no layer between the ball and the steel, so nothing filters what you feel.

It also means it will rust. The patina that forms is shaped by your climate, your hands and your turf. Wipe it dry after play and oil it now and then to steer it.

03 / The grind

Bounce ground
for the shot.

Ground by hand, per loft, in both steels. Each loft gets its own number.

  1. 50° / 10° bounce

Enough to keep the leading edge from digging on a fairway lie, not so much that it skips into the ball. The versatile one.

  2. 56° / 12° bounce

The most in the set. Sand and soft turf want a sole that glides through rather than digs in.

  3. 60° / 8° bounce

The least, so the leading edge sits down tight to the ball on firm lies. What a short-sided shot asks for.

Damascus RAW / Made to order

04 / The hands

Made by hand
in Colorado.

Every Project Nine head is forged, ground and stamped by hand in Colorado. A stamp struck by hand lands a little differently each time, so no two marks are identical.

Carbon is kept in stock. Damascus is made to order, which is why we ask for 3 to 4 weeks.
